Sol-Chip is an Israel technology company dedicated to the development of agricultural IoT systems. Based on the company’s proprietary light chip, the company has developed its own integrated solutions to power sustainable IoT platforms and provide efficient bi-directional data communication and management services to maximize the potential of IoT systems. The solutions have been widely used in greenhouses, fields, orchards, and weather stations around the world. Sol-Chip’s vision is to maximize IoT’s potential to create a more sustainable world, by using the force of digitalization to make farming cycles more efficient – reducing water and fertilizer consumption while improving yields.
With the introduction and assistance of SHENG Enterprises, Zhejiang Garden-Bee Horticultural Technology Co., Ltd. has tapped the potential of Sol-Chip in landscaping, and applied it in the future community stereo greening ecosystem in Zhejiang, complementing for the shortcomings of traditional irrigation equipment and sensors in power, data transmission and management systems. The status of the whole community’s green humidity, irrigation, equipment power and so on are displayed in the cloud-base management platform, which can be viewed and adjusted anytime and anywhere by logging in from a remote location.
In 2019, the Zhejiang government listed “Future Communities” as part of the tasks in the Government Work Report, and became the first province in China to propose the construction of “Future Communities”. In order to maintain the evergreen of the future community, it requires the integration of new technologies of landscaping. In the future community construction of Shibanqiao Future Community in Shangcheng District, Hangzhou, Israeli technology made a significant contribution towards achieving these targets.
The Sol-Chip system named “Soltag”, installed on the roof of a residential building, connects sensors for greenery in various locations of the building, wirelessly transmitting information on soil moisture conditions to a cloud-based control platform in real time, and when the humidity drops beyond a preset value, a command is automatically issued to open the water valve connected to the Soltag to water the green landscape of the entire building. At the same time, the Soltag is leveraging an innovative solar panel on the chip that can power the connected sensors, valves, etc., providing everlasting energy 24/7/365 even when it keeps raining for days. The whole process does not require manual intervention and daily maintenance, which is truly fully automatic and intelligent water-saving irrigation.
